Looking for a special opportunity to give this Holiday season?
Our own DHS Office of Public Guardian clients are in need of a few essential items and we offer this opportunity to fellow DHS employees and others to contribute.
The Office of Public Guardian clients are adults unable to make basic life decisions for themselves and have no family to advocate for them. Most of our clients live in nursing facilities or group homes and their gift needs are simple. For example: sweats, shoes, Jazz cap, slippers, shirts, PJ’s, and bedding items.
Here are two ways you can help this Holiday Season:
One – provide a gift card and OPG staff will use it to purchase needed items. Two – shop and provide for a particular client’s needs. Give us a call or email and we can tell you gender, age, sizes and needs.
Please give us a call at OPG 801.538.8255 and any of us are happy to connect you with this opportunity to give.

Beginning with Labor Day, Monday, September 5, 2011, holidays will be paid at 8 hours for full-time employees, instead of 9 hours. Part-time employees will have holiday leave pro-rated. This change is a result of the State’s move back to a five-day, eight hour workweek beginning on Saturday, September 3, 2011.

Sunday afternoon, Craig Walters had a busy schedule which included a music gig at a wedding that evening. Although pressed for time, he decided to take his dog, Nutmeg, out for a quick walk in the Anderson Tower Park (City Creek/Avenues area). During his walk, he noticed another dog-owner who was struggling with controlling a very large dog.
